Description of Role: MindOpen Learning Strategies, a growing social justice consulting firm located in New York City with a U.S. national scope, is looking forward to welcoming a College Intern with a demonstrated interest in and commitment to social justice.
Specifically, the Intern will be involved with a project to advance Fair Chance Employment (hiring people with criminal records in the workforce): a series of training modules designed to help businesses move beyond legal compliance with anti-discrimination laws to full inclusion of the vast untapped talent pool of formerly incarcerated people, including managing risks, accessing resources, overcoming implicit bias, and embedding organizational change.
The intern will have an opportunity to gain a wide range of professionals skills and exposure by participating in meetings and events (virtual during Covid-19), and contributing to curriculum development. Specifically, with the support of their host site supervisor, the Intern will be responsible for reviewing and synthesizing policy updates and research on issues related to Fair Chance Employment, on a weekly basis.
