Independent Contracting Opportunity: Projects and Communications Coordinator

POSTING DATE: July 20, 2020

CLOSING DATE: August 14, 2020

About the Role: MindOpen Learning Strategies, a growing social justice consulting firm located in New York City with a U.S. national scope, is seeking a Projects and Communications Coordinator with excellent organizational and interpersonal skills, and an entrepreneurial mindset. This is an ideal contracting opportunity for a graduate student, early-career professional, career-changer, retiree, or other individual who would benefit from meaningful exposure to a wide range of projects and initiatives geared toward advancing social justice goals.

This is a part-time, ten-month independent contractor role (September 2020 through June 2021), scoped for approximately 40 hours per month for a monthly payment of $1,000.00. The Projects and Communications Coordinator will be an independent contractor who will work with MindOpen’s Principal. As we are a growing firm, there is potential for business development leading to opportunity for expanded hours if desired by the contractor.

As an independent contractor, the Projects and Communications Coordinator will have the autonomy to create their own schedule for completing milestones and goals under the terms of the contract. At present, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, all internal and external meetings and events are planned for remote (virtual) delivery. As regional and national conditions change, MindOpen Learning Strategies  may resume in-person programming according to official guidelines, but is committed to maintaining flexibility to accommodate the selected contractor’s ability to be present in-person. For these reasons, the selected contractor does not need to be located in the New York City area, but does need to be prepared to be available for meetings during Eastern Daylight Time business hours.
